Florida FCCLA is proud to announce the 2020-2021 State Community Service Project, Tackle the Needs of Others. Florida FCCLA is proud to partner with Sports4theKids, a non-profit organization based in Tampa, FL, that aims to match students in need with new and used sports equipment. To aid these difficult circumstances and fit the individual needs of each chapter, there are two components to this project:
Leaders On The Run Virtual 5k
- Participate in Florida FCCLA’s first-ever virtual 5k! Florida FCCLA will be hosting a virtual 5k statewide. To register, participants can donate $10 to the below link and attach a screenshot to their registration. By registering, each participant will receive a personalized digital bib and will be able to participate in our virtual 5k the week of October 19-26, 2020. Encourage your entire chapter, friends, and family to participate alongside with you! Even though we cannot all gather together this fall at our district and state meetings, by all participating in this first-ever virtual 5k, Florida FCCLA members get the opportunity to stay healthy and fit, make an impact in their community, and unite with Florida FCCLA members from across the state while still saying safe!
Participate by creating an Individual Fundraiser
- Create your own project! We understand that school looks different for everyone right now, and school’s ability to meet and participate in projects are all different. However, we still want you to be able to participant in this service project in a way that best suits your chapter or district! Whether it be running a social media campaign for the organization, or running a bake sale to donate money to Sports4theKids, we encourage your chapter to participate in any way they can! Below are some ideas to spark the interest of your chapter to participate in this years service project!
1- Charge more for dues and use the extra money to donate to the cause. The students incentive of doing so could be a free pass into a ballgame at school of their choice. The advisor would have to coordinate this with the Athletic Director or Coach.
2- Host an intramural tournament with the sport of your choice ( volleyball, basketball, flag football, softball) All proceeds from this go towards the project.
3- Sell baked goods at the concession stands of ball games. All proceeds go towards the project.
4- Organize a coin drop competition. Example, each grade will have a jar. Pennies are counted as a positive and silver counts as negative. Run the coin drop for one week or two. After counting change, one class is the champion! Maybe make a banner to hang on the winners’ classroom door. All collected change will go towards the project.
5- Online auction or Silent Auction. Items for sale would be cakes or desserts- anything culinary related. All monies collected from these fundraisers should be donated through the link provided. Please send pictures of your group participating in the fundraiser, as well as a screenshot of your donation.
